Taj Mahal Agra

Taj mahal of Agra is one of the best historic places in India. As one speaks about Taj Mahal of Agra, the very next thought that comes into mind about the eternal love emperor Shah Jahan had for his wife Mumtaz. Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, between 1631 and 1654 on the bank of River Yamuna.

For almost 22 years 20 thousand people were working on this beautiful wonder. Ustad Isa an Iranian architect designed this lovely sculpture. Semi-transparent marble from Rajasthan was transported on 1000 elephants, Jasper was brought in from Punjab, while the Crystal was imported all the way from China, turquoise from Tibet, whereas Saphire was imported from Sri Lanka. This fine architectural tomb was completed in
1653 at a cost of 32 million.

To people the world over, the Taj Mahal, mausoleum of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan chief wife, Mumtaz Mahal, is synonymous with India. Taj Mahal is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular buildings of the world. Well-known for its architectural magnificence and artistic beauty, it counts among man's proudest creations and is invariably included in New Seven Wonders of the World.
